  3. Under 15’s retain South Down League!

In a very close game, New-Bridge U15’s saw off a spirited Banbridge Academy at Cheney Park today. In the first 10 minutes neither side were able to create any clear chances on goal. It was BA that generated the first pressure by winning a corner and from that corner scored. New-Bridge rallied towards the end of the half creating the clearest chance with a strike from outside the box from Jake McMaster which rebounded off the crossbar! 1-0 to BA at halftime. After a positive halftime team talk, New-Bridge started the second half on the front foot. Better passing and movement saw NWB create more half chances. It was from one of those chances that midfielder Brook Faulkner levelled things up. NWB were looking like grabbing the game with both hands, but counterattack from BA always looked threatening. With 5 minutes to go, BA took the lead with a stike from distance that made its way past Eoin. New-Bridge rallied, moving the ball quicker through the midfield to the ever threatening Ben and Jay. It was a cross from the left that saw Jake rise in the box to head the ball over the keeper and take the game to extra time. A nervy first 5 minutes of ET saw neither side create anything clear. With penalties looming, it was a diagonal ball from deep inside our half from Jake that found Ben Wilson out side the box to drive home the winning goal. What a goal to win the league final 3-2. Many thanks to Banbridge Academy for a tough match. Congratulations to Jay and his team.
