What is Peer Mentoring?

What is Peer Mentoring?
A peer mentor is a student who is trained to support and guide other students. They act as a friendly, approachable role model who helps others navigate challenges, make the most of their school experience, and feel more confident and supported.
At New-Bridge Integrated College, our Peer Mentoring Programme creates a welcoming environment where students can connect, grow, and thrive together. Here’s how it works and what it can do for you:
  • One-to-one or group support: You’ll be paired with a peer mentor for personalized guidance tailored to your needs.
  • Flexible meeting options: Meetings can happen weekly or occasionally, at a time and place that suits you.
  • Friendly advice: Peer mentors share their experiences and help with challenges, whether it’s schoolwork, friendships, or confidence.
  • A chance for friendship: Mentors and mentees often build great friendships through regular check-ins.
  • Encouragement and confidence: Mentors help boost your self-esteem and make school more enjoyable.
You don’t have to be a peer mentor to make a difference—everyone can play a role in supporting their peers! If you think you’d benefit from this programme, reach out to the Care and Welfare Team to learn more or click the pupil self referral button to request a peer mentor.
