  3. CELEBRATION OF INTEGRATION WITH SECOND GENERATION ARTWORK

Shannon O’Sullivan is a Year 8 student in New-Bridge Integrated College.  Shannon’s father, Aaron, commenced New-Bridge as one of the first Year 8 students to attend the College 20 years ago.

As part of our 20th Anniversary celebrations and to coincide in with Integrated Education Week, Sixth form student, Gareth Murphy and the Sixth form Welcoming Committee coordinated a Welcome Workshop to create a ceramic sculpture with visiting artist Ciara Campbell on Wednesday March 2nd.  Each new member of the school community , including Shannon, were invited to contribute to the art work by making their mark using prints and stamps.

The Sixth form Welcoming Committee’s central role is to welcome all new pupils, staff and visitors to the college.  To welcome our new pupils we work hard to ensure that they settle well, feel welcome and become part of our school community.  We work closely with them to identify and solve problems early.  Our most important aim is making sure that everyone is happy and feels valued and included. Artists Ciara Campbell and Gill McManus along with past pupil Niamh McManus were joined by representatives from Friends of New-Bridge Parent’s Committee to help Gareth facilitate the project.  The title of Gareth’s sculpture is HARMONIDENTITY which is inspired by this year’s IIEW theme.
